VA-11 Hall-A (aptly pronounced 'Valhalla' by fans) is a visual novel developed by Sukeban Games that sports a striking pixel-cyberpunk art style. It's one of my favorite examples of cyberpunk storytelling, and its synthwave soundtrack fits its niche cyberpunk bartending aesthetic and setting incredibly well.
The Process
The song I remember the most from the game is Michael "Garoad" Kelley's Every Day is Night (securing a spot on my work playlist). Inspired by the likes of the opening title sequence of Enter The Void and the limited 'animation' employed by neon signs, this music video combines various images and collages of my own creation to recreate the experience of walking the bustling streets of a vibrant neon-lit metropolis drenched in night.
